Corey Fells and the Locals Gallery are pleased to announce a weekend event in which we are happy to house as many graduates from the 8th graders, to high schoolers, and college grads to get their photos taken at the Locals Gallery location at 2018 South 1st Street suite 410 Saturday and Sunday May 11-12 from 8am until 5pm. Please register via EventBrite “Photos for the Grads”, and bring great energy!

This event came about when local photographer Corey Fells started to notice the huge financial burden in graduation by reflecting on his past middle school and high school graduation and the absence of photos to represent those days. In so, from there Corey connected with gallery owner, Darius Smith, and planned to make an event for a weekend around graduation time to allow the kids in Milwaukee to be celebrated and to have one less burden to carry as they cross one of many milestones in their life.

Corey Fells is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His photographs have been featured in numerous exhibitions, publications and media outlets, including NBC News, Blavity BBC, and the Museum of Wisconsin Arts in Washington County. In 2017, Fells created the 100 Womxn Project, a photography series focused on honoring his mother and millennial women of color. His work is dedicated to amplifying the voices of the unseen. Darius Smith and Alvin Connor are photographers turned gallery owners who are creating a space to allow the self-taught artist in the community have a voice by way of their visual, audio or performance based expression.
