First Stage Theater Academy offers Summer Sessions beginning Monday, June 17, 2019

Name of Event: First Stage Theater Academy

Dates: June 17 – August 23, 2019

Time: Half-day sessions: 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Full-day sessions: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. or 8:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., depending on grade level

Description: First Stage Theater Academy – the nation’s largest high-impact theater training program for young people – offers its summer theater training for students entering grades K4 – 12 in fall 2019. Professional theater artists from across the nation will share their expertise, skills and passion for their art with over 2,000 young people each summer. With programming that includes classes in musical theater, scene study, Shakespeare and improvisation, students develop their stage skills while simultaneously building life skills such as confidence, focus and teamwork. Teaching Artists this summer include Milwaukee actress and director Niffer Clarke, Milwaukee theater veteran, director and playwright Jonathan Gillard Daly, Milwaukee actress Kelly Doherty, actor DiMonte Henning and more. One-week, two-week, three-week and four-week sessions are available. Next Steps, the Theater Academy class designed for students on the autism spectrum, holds one-week and two-week sessions August 12 – 23.

Cost: Registration fees range from $160to $625, depending on length of session. Optional Extended Care (at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center only) for $25-$50 per week. Financial assistance is also available.
