We hate to admit it, but summer is almost over.

But we refuse to let it go.

With this in mind, we checked in with our friends from the Sports Media Institute,  a Milwaukee-based nonprofit mentoring and sports media training program, to ask them some of their favorite things to do in Milwaukee in the summer.

Be sure to check out our entire NNS Summer Survival Guide.

Name: Matthew Johnson

Pick: Black Arts Fest MKE

In their own words: It is a festival where people come together to celebrate African art.

Name: Alexis Johnson

Pick: Brady Street Festival

In their own words: One of the events  that I enjoy to go to in the summer is Brady Street Festival. I really like the food and I enjoy seeing the Milwaukee Flyers Tumbling Team perform. It’s also a chance for me to experience things I’ve never done before.

Name: Trinity Bratchett

Pick: Mexican Fiesta

In their own words: In the summer I enjoy going to Mexican Fiesta. I really like the jewelry that people sell there. The food that they have is really good especially, the corn on the cob. Last year, I got a poncho that is really warm, I wear it in the winter a lot because it keeps me warm from the cold Milwaukee weather.

Name: Zion-Elon Green

Pick: Summerfest

In their own words: In the summer I go to Summerfest. The crowd and entertainment are hype. All the people were dancing and I enjoyed the singers.

Name: Demetrius Hartfield

Pick: Swimming and riding bikes

In their own words: My favorite summer activity is going swimming and riding my bike with my friends. I like to stay active and go outside. I enjoy seeing my friends in the summer too.

Name: Ryon Davis

Pick: Playing soccer and sleepovers

In their own words: My favorite activity is playing soccer I like to be outside and enjoy the summer air. I also like to be with and friends and having sleepovers with them because I don’t get to see them as much.
