The choice was easy.

Take a traditional final exam. Or walk the runway.

And students in the cosmetology program at Milwaukee Area Technical College were more than glad to earn their grades, one strut at a time.

“I thought it would be a good idea instead of having a final exam, they would put together this fashion show,” said instructor Megan Jackson. “I know at the end with finals and everything, it can be a little stressful. So my goal is to make it fun, and every year make it a little bit better.”

It took hours to prepare models for the show, which was the final project last month for students in the Advanced Style class.

The show was moved from the classroom to the Cooley Auditorium so the students could invite family and friends to see their final projects.

Graduates are eligible to become state-licensed cosmetologists.
