Tuesday marked the third anniversary of the unrest in Sherman Park—a day that captivated the attention of the city (and the world). To chronicle the occasion, the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service assembled neighbors and community leaders who are on the front lines in the Sherman Park community for a series of Facebook Lives.
Our guests talked about changes in the community since 2016. And they talked about things that have not changed.
Most important, they talked.
We invite you to watch. And listen.
•Conversation with Sedan Smith, brother of Sylville Smith, who was fatally shot by a Milwaukee Police Department officer
•Conversation with Vaun L Mayes and Gab Taylor from Program The Parks MKE and Community Task Force MKE
•Conversation with Mildred Haynes, Sylville Smith’s mother
•Conversation with Markasa Tucker and representatives of UBLAC Milwaukee Annia Leonard, Sierra Nicole, and Lisa Jones
•Conversation with Camille Mays, Jarrett English and David Muhammad
