It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some events that can enrich your weekend. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please email info@milwaukeenns.org and put “5 things” in the subject line by noon Thursday.

1. Holiday meal baskets for Metcalfe Park and Amani neighborhoods: Friday, Nov. 22

Metcalfe Park Community Bridges, the Dominican Center and Feeding America are partnering together to provide holiday food baskets to families in Metcalfe Park and Amani neighborhoods on Friday, Nov. 22. About 200 families will receive a basket, but additional resources such as blankets, hats, gloves and soap will be provided during the resource fair. The giveaway and fair will be held at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society, 2620 W. Center St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

2. Local Latinx movie night: Friday, Nov. 22

LUNA is hosting a movie night on Friday, Nov. 22. Short films made by local Latinx artists will be featured during the event. The screenings will take place at LUNA, 1037 S. Cesar Chavez Drive, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

3. SoilSista plant swap: Saturday, Nov. 23
SoilSista is hosting a plant swap for horticulturists be they beginners or masters of plants on Saturday, Nov. 23. The premise is simple: bring a plant or two to swap with other attendees. In addition to the plant swap, SoilSista and HoneyBee Sage Apothecary are hosting a winter attire drive and will be collecting hats, gloves and scarves as part of the entry fee. The plant swap and coat drive will be held at the Sherman Phoenix, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

4. Annual housing resource fair: Saturday, Nov. 23

Ald. Milele Coggs and Ald. Russell Stamper are inviting residents to attend the ninth annual Housing Resource Fair on Saturday, Nov. 23. There will be workshops on credit repair and resources for the elderly as well as information on home repairs, home financing, foreclosure assistance and more. The fair will be held at North Division High School, 1011 W. Center St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, click here.

5. Underground Muslim artists exhibition: Saturday, Nov. 23

Fanana Banana is hosting an art exhibition, Underground Muslim Artists, on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, 839 S. 5th St. Art from local and non-local Muslim creatives will be featured. The showcase is free and open to the public and runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibit will be on display until Monday, Nov. 25.
