As the Dec. 15 deadline looms for individuals to secure 2020 coverage through Healthcare.gov, enrollment experts in Milwaukee are working night and day to meet the demand for consumers looking for help.  In the last week of the open enrollment period, a dozen events, open to the public, are scheduled throughout the Milwaukee area to offer assistance.

“There are only a few days left to sign up for health insurance on HealthCare.Gov,” said Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm.  “In Milwaukee, there are more than 100 local enrollment experts ready to help residents enroll in affordable plans available in the health insurance Marketplace to keep you and your family healthy. Just call 2-1-1 to get help.”

To meet the demand for ‘last minute’ enrollment for health care coverage in Milwaukee, consumers may drop in at these events, but are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 211:

The Milwaukee Enrollment Network reminds consumers to be prepared when signing up for healthcare coverage, and to have the following information about themselves and their household:

  • social security numbers and document numbers for legal immigrants for every person in the home who needs coverage
  • employer and income information for the household (from pay stubs or W-2 forms)
  • policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of the household

Consumers can learn more about enrollment in the health insurance Marketplace as well as Medicaid, by visiting healthcare.gov or calling the Health Insurance Marketplace national call center at 1-800-318-2596.  To get connected to free help from an insurance expert in Milwaukee County, consumers should call 2-1-1, or go to coveringwi.org/enroll.

Adults with income below 100% of the federal poverty level ($12,140 per year for an individual) and children and pregnant women in households with income under 300% of the poverty levels ($75,300 for a family of four), may enroll anytime in BadgerCare Plus.
