North Shore Bank today announced that it will host a series of free seminars for people looking to take control of their finances and learn steps needed to reach financial goals. The seminars, which are open to the public, will be held in the community room at the North Shore Bank Jackson Park office (4230 W. Oklahoma Ave). There will be six seminars that will be presented in both English and Spanish, and four seminars that will be presented in only Spanish.

“As a community bank, we feel it is our responsibility to understand the challenges and goals of our customers,” said Alfredo Martin, branch manager at North Shore Bank. “Hosting these free financial seminars is our way of supporting and empowering our communities so they may have the tools to support themselves financially.”

The seminar schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, Feb. 22 at 11:30 a.m.

Home Buying Resources – Learn about grants, loans, home ownership and more.

  • Saturday, March 28 at 11:30 a.m.

Real Estate Basics – Information presented by Virgil Maldonado of Blue Arrow Realty, LLC and the Latino Entrepreneurial Network.

  • Saturday, April 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Home Lending – North Shore Bank’s Mortgage Loan Professionals will share home lending options and insights.

  • Saturday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m.

Understanding & Managing Personal Credit – Join us and the Latino Entrepreneurial Network to learn the basics of personal credit and what it means to you. Spanish-only seminar.

  • Saturday, June 27 at 11:30 a.m.

Credit and Budgeting – Discover easy ways to establish credit and which budgeting tools are available to you.

  • Saturday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m.

How to Apply for a Loan & Credit Cards – We will be joined by the Latino Entrepreneurial Network to find out what you need to know to make applying easy.

  • Saturday, Aug. 22 at 11:30 a.m. 

Introduction to Electronic Banking – See how the latest tools can help make your banking transactions even easier and save you time. Spanish-only seminar.

  • Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 a.m.

Managing Your Bank Accounts – We will take a closer look at your accounts and offer you tips to help you better manage your money. Spanish-only seminar.

  • Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11:30 a.m.

Financial Goals – Let’s talk about the steps you can take to meet your goals.

  • Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m.

The Importance of Saving – We will be joined by the Latino Entrepreneurial Network to learn why it’s important to set aside money in a savings account. Spanish-only seminar.
