Students in Milwaukee Area Technical College’s landscape horticulture associate degree program produced a quality crop of holiday poinsettias this year.
Laurie Weiss’s Fall Greenhouse Production class grew the plants which couldn’t be sold this year because the annual holiday plant sale was canceled due to Covid-19.
The class and the Horticulture Club decided to share the plants with the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee. Horticulture Club President Brian Morrison, instructor Laurie Weiss, instructor Delisa White, and Horticulture Department Chairperson and Hort Club Advisor Cassie Brayton worked together to sleeve and package the plants that were then transported by Weiss and Brayton in mid-December to the Hunger Task Force where they were distributed to the community.
