Once again, gener8tor will offer its artist accelerator program to the Milwaukee visual arts community in 2021. Formerly known as Fellowship.art, gener8tor Art will provide educational programming and networking to artists in Milwaukee and beyond. A jury of art professionals will select the four recipients who will each receive a $15,000 budget grant and participation in the 2021 gener8tor Art program. Three positions will be reserved exclusively for Wisconsin artists, while one spot is open to artists from across the country. The application is currently open on the gener8tor Art website until March 27, 2021.

gener8tor Art is a free, 12-week accelerator designed specifically for visual artists to achieve greater visibility and success by providing the support and mentorship needed to navigate the art industry. Of the top accelerator programs in the country, gener8tor is the only one to offer grants and programming for artists.

In addition to the accelerator program, gener8tor Art will host a series of free, virtual professional development workshops designed for artists. Topics include an artist statement workshop (in partnership with the Walker’s Point Center for the Arts), creating a budget for your art project, preparing for a virtual studio visit, and digital strategies for artists. All workshops and webinars are open to the public. You can register here.

“I’m excited to help strengthen the art ecosystem in the Milwaukee area by providing both financial support and mentorship to artists,” said Maureen Ragalie, gener8tor Art director. “Our goal is to partner with artists to help them create sustainable art practices. By investing in individual artists, we not only help strengthen the creative economy, but we make a statement about the value of creativity in our communities.”

Alumni from the gener8tor Art accelerator program include Ben Balcom, Brent Budsberg & Shana McCaw, Tyanna Buie, Sydney G. James, Le’Andra LeSeur, Dakota Mace, Open Kitchen, and Ariana Vaeth. In addition to working towards successful next steps in their art careers, all alumni artists are working on or have completed long-term projects as part of their experience with gener8tor Art.

gener8tor Art is made possible through support from the American Family Institute for Corporate and Social Impact.
