Young Enterprising Society (YES) and National Association of Black Accountants – Milwaukee chapter, in sponsorship by Northwestern Mutual, will host Tech+: an eight-week summer program that will train 25 students from June 7, 2021 through August 6, 2021.

Applications are currently open and close on April 11, 2021. It is a two-part application: one for the student and one for the parent. Students are required to have their parent or legal guardian assist them with the application process.

The program will be modeled around technology and entrepreneurship. YES intends to develop a pipeline of diverse students who have the capacity to code, design and develop computer programs. Programming will also include off-site field trips.

Through their work with thousands of middle and high school students, YES has found that early preparation is the best way to prepare students to enter into the tech ecosystems. Sessions will take place Mondays – Fridays.

Students will focus on four main skills:

  • Entrepreneurship.
  • Java Programming.
  • Pitching and Presentations.
  • Accounting.

At the end of the summer program, each student will present at a Demo Day for community members, sponsors and the students’ families.
