P1K: A Picture & A Thousand Words is a blind collaboration between photographers & writers: Photos are submitted and posted at writeapic.org. Writers then choose a photo that inspires them and write a thousand words, any genre or form. This culminates in a live event featuring a reading and photo projection with all artists in attendance. We’ve planned for a live event at Sugar Maple in Bay View, but we’re prepared to go virtual depending on COVID guidelines.

Written Word Deadline: September 16, 2021
We encourage participation by keeping all submissions free – as is the event itself. P1K has been hugely successful and is in its 5th year.
About us: Writeapic.org is a non-profit committed to showcasing Wisconsin artists and encouraging collaboration between genres. P1K:A Picture & A Thousand Words is our flagship event. Our live event has have grown into a larger space and we continued with a virtual event in 2020 that saw 60 attendees.
