It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about as we head into the weekend.

1. Mexican Fiesta: Friday, Aug. 27, Saturday, Aug. 28 and Sunday, Aug. 29

Mexican Fiesta is back. The festival will take place at the Henry Maier Festival Park, 200 N. Harbor Drive, from noon to midnight on Friday, Aug. 27, Saturday, Aug. 28 and Sunday, Aug. 29. There will be an exposition, food, mariachi music, a free legal clinic and more. For tickets, click here.

2. Basura bash with VIA and Safe & Sound: Saturday, Aug. 28

VIA and Safe & Sound have been hosting community cleanups throughout the summer. Another cleanup will be taking place along West Becher Street and South 36th Street from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. To sign up, click here.

3. Milwaukee Public Library public art walking tours: Saturday, Aug. 28

Milwaukee Public Library is inviting people to do a public art walking tour and scavenger hunt. The first tour will take place at the Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St., from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Click here to register. The second tour will take place at the Villard Square Branch, 5190 N. 35th St., from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Click here to register. NNS’s Adam Carr will host the tours along with Celeste Contreras and Angelique Sharpe.

4. Milwaukee Urban League back-to-school bash: Saturday, Aug. 28

Milwaukee Urban League is hosting a back-to-school bash for families. The event will take place at the Milwaukee Urban League office building, 435 W. North Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. There will be school supplies, refreshments, games, COVID-19 vaccinations, immunizations, employment placement services and more.

5. Riverworks presents “Music on the Beerline”: Friday, Aug. 27

Riverworks Development Corporation is hosting “Music on the Beerline,” a concert event featuring local musicians, including Orlando Pena, DJDRiPSweat, Anthony Deutsch, Ms. Lotus Fankh and Alyssia Dominguez. The concert will take place at Beerline Trail, 3350 N. Holton Ave., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27.
