Urban Underground announced that DoorDash, the leading last mile logistics company, donated $25,000 to the organization in support of School Board Director Aisha Carr’s District 4 initiatives centered on increasing parental and community engagement efforts in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
“We are incredibly humbled by the support of DoorDash through support for Milwaukee. District 4 is the largest of eight districts in MPS, with thirty-six schools and an enrollment of over 14,000 students, some of which Urban Underground serves. It was a natural fit to partner with Director Carr who is supporting a district with one of the greatest needs,” said Sharlen Moore, Urban Underground.
“As the proud and unapologetic representative of the children, families and communities residing in School Board District 4, I’m incredibly excited and overwhelmingly grateful to be the recipient of Urban Underground’s $25,000 donation from DoorDash to support our efforts to recruit and engage children and families within the 53206 zip code. Through this generous and thoughtful contribution, it is my hope that local, statewide and national partners join District 4’s efforts to support communities deprived yet deserving of so much.”
“DoorDash is honored to be able to support community engagement efforts in Milwaukee through our Community Credits program” said Alexi Madon, Senior Manager, Government Relations. “We’re pleased to partner with Urban Underground and Director Carr to make it easier for parents and families to engage with their local schools and bolster their involvement by ensuring they don’t have to worry about cooking a meal or obtaining essential items.”
DoorDash’s Community Credits program provides donations of DoorDash gift cards to nonprofits to help them empower the communities they serve, reduce food insecurity, and encourage participation in programs that expand access to opportunity.
