It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know.

If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please email info@milwaukeenns.org and put “5 things” in the subject line by noon Thursday.

1. Free Lunch Food and Clothing Donation Drive: Friday, Nov. 19

Bring your clothes and nonperishable foods to this donation drive, organized by Milwaukee-based artist NilexNile and hear guest speakers from Students of Color in Academic Life, or SOCIAL, as well as other live performances. The drive will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, 1874 N. 24th Place. Food for attendees will be available.

2. Music for Life Blood Drive: Saturday, Nov. 20

Give blood to the sounds of Milwaukee-based artists DJ Bizzon, B~Free and Webster X at the “Music for Life Blood Drive” sponsored by Versiti. The drive lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Nō Studios, 1037 W. McKinley Ave. Register to give blood here.

3. Turkey Trot: Fun Run & Walk: Saturday, Nov. 20

Join the Urban Ecology Center for a “casual” 5k run or walk at Washington Park, starting from the Urban Ecology Center’s location within the park, 1859 N. 40th St. Bring nonperishable food items to donate. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. Register here.

4. Adopt-a-River Cleanup: Lincoln Creek: Saturday, Nov. 20

This end-of-the-year cleanup of the community space beside Lincoln Creek is sponsored by Nearby Nature Milwaukee, Sierra Club Great Waters Group and Northwest Side Community Development Corporation. Help keep this neighborhood green spot beautiful by volunteering your time from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 20. by the “Bee Bus” sign located at 4350 N. 35th St. RSVP here.

5. Kujichagulia Cooperative One-Year Anniversary Celebration: Saturday, Nov. 20

Meet the makers behind the Kujichagulia Producers Cooperative, a collective of entrepreneurs united under the principle of Kujichagulia or “self-determination,” at their first anniversary celebration. The celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Sherman Phoenix, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave. A full event schedule can be found here.
