Cascade Asset Management, experts in secure data removal and technology disposal, announced a partnership with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County to support a collective impact initiative called Techquity. The goal is to bridge the digital divide in our local community.

Cascade is a full-service technology disposition company that helps organizations manage device retirement.

“The Techquity initiative at United Way aims to ensure all members of our community have access to essential devices like computers, phones, and tablets,” said David Berka, Project Manager, Data, Evaluation, & Resource Equity for United Way. “Access to digital devices is no longer a luxury, but rather an essential part of living well in our society. United Way is proud to partner with Cascade Asset Management to ensure device access for the most vulnerable members of our community.”

Businesses and institutions in our area are encouraged to donate older equipment for refurbishment. Suggested items include functional notebooks, iPhones, and iPads. Items should be in functional condition, with normal wear. Devices with immediate need include iPhone 8 and above, iPad 5th Gen and above (A1822 model and above), and notebooks 5 years old or less. At this time, donations from households are not accepted.

Cascade serves as a single point of service. Cascade will not only assist with donatable items, but also help manage logistics, data destruction, the resale of other equipment, certified recycling of scrap, and detailed reporting of how each device was processed. Any proceeds generated from the resale of other assets can also contribute to the donation. United Way will receive all donations and distribute them to program and agency partners in the local community.
