It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here.

1. Valentine’s Dance Social: Friday, Feb. 11

Celebrate with a loved one at Dunamis Dance Studio’s Valentine’s Day Social. The event runs from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 1170 W Windlake Ave. No cover fee, and doors close at 9 p.m.

2. Music Under the Stars, featuring Shuga Blue: Friday, Feb. 11



Music Under the Stars is back, this time featuring the feel-good reggae, soul and pop bops for all ages provided by Shuga Blue. The show starts at 7 p.m. at Arts @ Large, located at 1100 S. 5th St. Register for free here.

3. BLOC Mayoral Forum: Saturday, Feb. 12

Issues facing Black Milwaukeeans is the overarching subject of this mayoral debate, hosted by Black Leaders Organizing for Communities, or BLOC. Candidates will answer questions from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on BLOC’s Facebook page.

4. Valentine’s Day photo shoot: Saturday, Feb. 12

Do you have couples photos yet? If not, the folks at Flip Film Studios have you covered with multiple photoshoot packages and a free gift bag with each purchase. Book your shoots for Saturday. More information here.

5. A weekend with VIBEZ Creative Arts Space: All weekend

VIBEZ Creative Arts Space, which is dedicated to education around art in different mediums, is hosting a slate of painting events this weekend, including a kids day and GALentine’s day paint n’ sip. Tickets for all weekend events can be purchased here.
