Beverages and community have always been staples in Lindsay Heights, whether it was juice from Juice Kitchen, shown in 2015, or apple ginger tea for “Share A Cup Tuesday” from Taste of Lindsay Heights, which takes place Tuesdays in 2022. (NNS file photo by Wyatt Massey)

It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here.

1. “Share A Cup Tuesday” in Lindsay Heights: Tuesday, Feb. 22 and every Tuesday

“Share A Cup Tuesday” is a campaign by Taste of Lindsay Heights, a carryout café run by the nonprofit Walnut Way. Customers pay for a cup of apple ginger tea for themselves and a neighbor, friend or stranger to build community in Lindsay Heights, one cup of tea at a time. Taste of Lindsay Heights is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 1617 W. North Ave.

2. State of the County Address: Wednesday, Feb. 23

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley is scheduled to deliver the 2022 State of the County Address starting at noon Wednesday, Feb. 23. This address is a chance for Crowley to update residents on the county’s work regarding health and human services, the parks system and other responsibilities of his office. The speech, delivered virtually due to COVID concerns, will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.

3. Virtual DIY Podcasting Workshop: Wednesday, Feb. 23

Learn everything you need to know about how to record, produce and publish a podcast at this series of workshops. The first of these workshops runs from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Newline Café, 3618 W Pierce St., on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and continues each Wednesday at the same time through March 16. The class and the editing software you will use are free, but you will need a phone, tablet or laptop with a microphone to record your podcast. RSVP here.

4. KASE + Klassik: album and book release party: Friday, Feb. 25

Celebrate Milwaukee-based jazz and rap talent KASE and Klassik as they release “KASE + Klassik Live At The Opera House” on cassette and digital. In addition, “Sound Museum,” a book of original designs by B Side Recordings, also will be available for purchase. Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 at The Ivy House, located at 906 S. Barclay St. Tickets start at $25 and you can purchase them here.

5. Apply for Summer Youth Internship Program: Deadline is Friday, March 18

Youths from 16 to 19 years old can get city government experience and earn $15 an hour through the Summer Youth Internship Program, a component of the Earn and Learn program. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. on Friday, March 18. Learn more about the program, eligibility requirements and the application process here.
