1. America’s Black Holocaust Museum grand on-site reopening: Friday, Feb. 25

The wait is over, and the physical location of America’s Black Holocaust Museum is back. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the museum at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 at 401 W. North Ave. Following the ceremony, the doors of the museum will be open until 5 p.m. Click here for more information on the event, and click here for more information about the museum.

2. Freedom Friday MKE: Friday, Feb. 25

What does freedom look like to you? That is the question this panel will discuss – and more – bringing awareness to the wrongfully convicted, wrongfully charged and the entire criminal justice system. The discussion will feature co-host “The Comeback Coach” Ed Hennings with special guests panelists Jamila T. Davis, Stoney, Angelo Pinto, Brad Jordan and Rudy Bankston. The event, organized by the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative, will also have free food, local vendors and music. Vendor booths open and networking begins at 3 p.m. and the panel discussion begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6633 W. Mill Rd.

3. La Iguana Folkloric Dance Workshop: Saturday, Feb. 26

Learn how to dance to traditional music from Veracruz, Mexico, that represents the ocean waves, respect for the natural environment and protection of endangered species. The class is led by Omeyocan Dance Company and runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Arts @ Large, located at 1100 S. 5th St. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test required.

4. Learn how to cross-country ski: Saturday, Feb. 26

Want to learn how to cross country ski? The Hawthorn Glen Outdoor Education Center is here to teach you! Equipment is available for those who need it. Class begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1130 N. 60th St. Tickets can be purchased through Milwaukee Recreation for $15 for Milwaukee residents, $25 for those outside of the city.

5. Urban Candlelight Hike: Saturday, Feb. 26

Celebrate winter in Milwaukee with a cup of cocoa, chimichangas, campfires, food trucks and more at this urban candlelight hike in Three Bridges Park, hosted by the Urban Ecology Center and Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail. Festivities run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Three Bridges Park at 610 S. 35th St. Entry is free, but more information on what is available for purchase is available here.
