It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here.

1. La Revo Books birthday party: Tuesday, March 8

La Revo Books, a bookstore with books by and for people of color, is turning one year old! Celebrate with cake, giveaways and light refreshments from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 at Tres Hermanos Restaurant, located at 1332 W. Lincoln Ave. Click here for more information.

2. Let’s Talk Womxn Milwaukee: Tuesday, March 8

Let’s Talk Womxn’s Milwaukee chapter will host a gathering of over 20 women chefs, restauranteurs and entrepreneurs in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 at the Story Hill Firehouse, 407 N Hawley Rd. More details, including a list of vendors and ticket information, can be found here.

3. Black immigrant and refugee experience: Tuesday, March 8

Hear from Black women immigrants and refugees on their lived experiences through this panel discussion sponsored by the Milwaukee chapter of Links, a volunteer service organization led by women of African descent. The online discussion starts at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8. Register to attend for free here.

4. Hiplet Ballerinas: Wednesday, March 9

The traveling ballet incorporating the rhythms of African drums with Tchaikovsky, arabesques and beat-boxing or even Tango comes to Milwaukee. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center, located at 929 N. Water St. Ticket information and more here.

5. 2022 MPS Student Job Fair: Wednesday, March 9

Businesses looking for employees are encouraged to register to attend the 2022 MPS Student Job Fair to tap into the next generation of talent. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at the UWM Student Union, located at 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.
