Marquette University Alumni Memorial Union Ballroom, Milwaukee

Attendees will take the information gained at the quarterly WISE meetings of 2021 and work together to identify and commit to action. Even if you did not participate in one of our meetings in 2021, you are still welcome to attend.

MENTAL HEALTH SYMPOSIUM
A Call to Action: The Intersection of Race and Mental Health
Tuesday, April 19th, 8:15am-12:30pm
Marquette University Alumni Memorial Union Ballroom, Milwaukee

Attendees will take the information gained at the quarterly WISE meetings of 2021 and work together to identify and commit to action. Even if you did not participate in one of our meetings in 2021, you are still welcome to attend.

RESOURCES: If you have pamphlets, flyers, business cards or other materials that you would like to share with attendees, you are welcome to bring them along and place on a general resource table.
You can attend In person or virtually

This event is FREE. Please register by 4/15/22.

Announcing our Topics & Panelists!

Brooks Griffin, The INSPIRED Network, will be our Emcee for the day.

1. Strengthening Resources – Reggie Jackson, Co-Owner and Lead Trainer Nurturing Diversity Partners; Brenda Wesley, Mental Health Advocate, Milwaukee County Mental Health Board Member

2. Diversity in the Mental Health Workforce –  Dr. Maria Amarante, SAC, LPC, PhD, Owner Multicultural Trauma and Addiction Resource Center

3. Disparity of Reimbursement Rates – Thomasina Jenkins, MSW, LCSW, CSAC, ICS, Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, UW Milwaukee

4. Training of Police Officers and Other First Responders – Captain Sheronda Grant, Milwaukee Police Department; Brenda Wesley, Mental Health Advocate, Milwaukee County Mental Health Board Member

Dr. Robert Smith, Director Center for Urban Research, Teaching and Outreach (CURTO) at Marquette University, Dr. Smith will discuss mapping the many excellent resources in the Milwaukee area.
