1. Black Restaurant Week continues: through Sunday, April 30 

Organized by BlankSpace MKE, “Black Restaurant Week” highlights Black-owned restaurants throughout the city and the diverse set of culinary options they offer. The celebration of these restaurants continues through Sunday, April 30. You can find more information about participating restaurants here

2. Black entrepreneur showcase: Friday, April 28 

The Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce has organized “Spring Fling,” a vendor market featuring  Black-owned vendors. The market runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28 at Wisconsin African American Women’s Center, located at 3020 W. Vliet St. More information here.  

3. Groove Lounge: Saturday, April 29 

Coffee Makes You Black and Radaya Ellis, also known as 4Waukee, host this monthly concert series to provide artists with a platform to showcase their talents. This month’s concert features performances from Emmitt James, EARFFMAN!, Myquale, Von Alexander and DJ Slow It Down. The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at Coffee Makes You Black, located at 2803 N. Teutonia Ave. More information here.  

4. Feedback on MPS strategic plan: Saturday, April 29 

MPS is formulating its strategic plan for 2023-’28 and is looking for community feedback. You can learn more about the plan and give your thoughts at this feedback session from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 at MPS Central Services Auditorium, located at 5225 W. Vliet St. More information here.  

5. Pop-up art festival at The Domes: Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 

“Art in the Green” is an art festival at the Mitchell Park Domes, with artworks for sale, entertainment and food vendors. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday April, 30 at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, otherwise known as “The Domes,” located at 524 S. BONUS: Dominican Center “Green and Growing” fundraiser: Sunday, April 30 

Dominican Center serves the Amani neighborhood through conversations on addressing reckless driving, access to hydroponics, organizing paths to homeownership and more. To support this work, Dominican Center is hosting a fundraising luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 30 at the Wisconsin Club, located at 900 W. Wisconsin Ave. More information here
