1. 500 Fathers United: Friday, June 16

Community leaders are asking 500 fathers to meet at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 16.the COA Youth and Family Center’s Goldin Center, 2320 W. Burleigh St. Their goal is to set the tone for a safe summer and call upon the fathers in Milwaukee, specifically in the 53206 ZIP code, to commit themselves to a ceasefire Father’s Day weekend.

2. Taste of Black Milwaukee: Saturday, June 17

Black men who are chefs and owners of Black-owned restaurants should grab their aprons and register as a vendor for the “Taste of Black Milwaukee” event on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The 21st annual Men Who Cook competition will also take place.  So if you are a man who cooks or a chef, sign up for this competition. This will all take place at the Destiny Youth Plaza, 7220 N. 76th St. More information here.

3. Car Show: Sunday, June 18

Your Move MKE holds its first car show and car wash fundraiser on Sunday, June 18 at 1107 W. Historic Mitchell St. Come between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy food, an arcade bus and to see 25 trophies being awarded to top car show participants. More information here

4. Community Brunch for Dads: Sunday, June 18

Make your dad feel special Sunday, June 18 at the Community Brunch for Dads event presented by the City of Light Church. This free and interactive event takes place at 6725 W. Burleigh St. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More information here.

5. Enderis Park Farmers Market: Sunday, June 18

Top the summer off with festivities and a wide selection of foods at Enderis Park Farmers Market on Sunday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2956 N. 72nd St. Local vendors will be in attendance with foods and vegetables that they’ve grown. More information here.

Bonus: Community Garden

Feel free to visit the Wellpoint Care Network’s community garden on its Capitol Drive campus this weekend on 8901 W. Capitol Drive. Its opening was Wednesday, June 14. There are opportunities for individuals to have their own plot as there are over 40 plots, volunteer opportunities and sponsorships. More information here.
