It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. MADD 414: Monday, July 15

Milwaukee African Drum & Dance will have its weekly culture and rhythm session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15 at 1531 W. Vliet St. You will learn about West African culture and dance. Admission is $5 for children and  $10 for adults. More information here.

2. City on a Hill Vision Clinic: Wednesday, July 17 

City on a Hill will hold its monthly vision clinic from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 17 at 2224 W. Kilbourn Ave. Patients will receive a free vision screening and eyeglasses. More information here. 

3. Trivia Night at Zócalo Food Park: Wednesday, July 17

Quizmaster Trivia will be at the Zόcalo Food Park, 636 S. Sixth St., at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17. You can form a team of eight people and answer questions for a chance to win a gift card. Each participant must pay $1 to play. More information here.  

4. Prospective Foster Parent Information Session: Thursday, July 18

Wellpoint Care Network will hold an information session for individuals interested in becoming a foster parent. The virtual session will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. You must register to receive the link. More information here. 

5. Ceramics Slab Work & Sculpting: Thursday, July 18 

Mitchell Street Arts invites you to a ceramics art session where you will learn how to use a clay roller. The class will be led by co-artists Shampayne Sifuentes and Betul Dogan. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 at 710 W. Historic Mitchell St.  This session is pay-what- you- can. Click here to register. More information here. 

Bonus: Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides low-income seniors with vouchers they can use to purchase eligible goods at farmers’ markets, roadside shops and community supported agriculture programs. The Hunger Task Force will be accepting applications from seniors 60 and older, to receive $45 coupons. Indigenous elders must be 55 and older. Vouchers are made available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. More information here.
