1. District 7 Barbershop Monday: Monday, Oct. 28
The Milwaukee Police Department District 7, Owen’s Place and Safe & Sound, Inc. are partnering to host “Barbershop Monday” to give children free haircuts. Children who stop by can also engage in a youth dialogue about community issues. It will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 at 4610 W. Fond du Lac Ave. More information here.
2. Mil-Book-ee Book Club: Monday, Oct. 28
You are invited to the Mil-Book-ee Book Club, led by the Milwaukee County Historical Society, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 at 910 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. You will read and discuss a book titled, “Milwaukee Mayhem: Murder and Mystery in the Cream City’s First Century,” by Matthew Prigge. You may bring your own copy of the book or purchase one at the gift shop. Refreshments will be provided. More information here.
3. Aurora Mobile Health Clinic: Tuesday, Oct. 29
Aurora Health Care will be at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch to provide adults and children free health care services, including health screenings, medication review and more. The health clinic will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. More information here.
4. Intergenerational Talking Circle: Another One Gone Too Soon: Tuesday, Oct. 29
Heal the Hood Milwaukee invites community members of all ages to attend an intergenerational talking circle in honor of the late Milwaukee radio host Keyon Jackson-Malone. You will engage in an open discussion about death in the Black community, seek wisdom and more. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Safe & Sound, Inc., 4422 W. 5. Resource Fair and Trick-or-Treating: Thursday, Oct. 31
Children can participate in a costume contest, trick-or-treating activities and receive resources from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Kosciuszko Community Center, 2201 S. Seventh St. More information here.
