1. Meet the Allies: Friday, Nov. 15
Public Allies Wisconsin will introduce its new cohort of leaders from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at 325 W. Walnut St. Come meet, network and celebrate with them. Refreshments will be provided. Public Allies is a national nonprofit headquartered in Milwaukee that places people, usually 30 years old or younger, in apprenticeship programs with nonprofits to develop community-building skills. The goal of the 10-month program is to create leaders who share common values such as an appreciation for diversity and inclusion and continuous learning. More information here.
2. ESL Drop-in Tutoring: Saturday, Nov. 16
If you need help improving your English skills, ESL tutors will be available from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. You can receive help with reading, writing, listening and speaking. More information here.
3. Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market: Saturday, Nov. 16
Stop by Fondy’s Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5305 W. Capitol Drive. You can purchase produce, body products, jewelry and more from local farmers and artisans. More information here.
4. Food Not Bombs Free Food and Free Store Event: Saturday, Nov. 16
Food Not Bombs MKE will be giving away free food at noon on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Jackson Park, 3500 W. Forest Home Ave. You can also shop at the free store. More information here.
5. Youth Social Justice Forum: Saturday, Nov. 16
The ACLU of Wisconsin will hold a youth social justice forum to help high school students build their leadership skills and learn to advocate for themselves. The forum will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 325 W. Walnut St. More information here.
