It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Fit Friday: Friday, Jan. 17

Youths and adults from the ages of 16 to 24 are welcome to join Owen’s Place for “Fit Friday.” You will learn to stay active by participating in simple workouts while in a supportive environment. The next session is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at 4610 W. Fond du Lac Ave. More information here.

2. Metcalfe Park Freedom Shop: Friday, Jan. 17

Once a month, Metcalfe Park residents can stop by the  freedom shop to receive free items like clothes, diapers, wipes and more. The next mutual aid event will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at 3624 W. North Ave. on the second floor. Click here to see what’s in stock or what’s needed. More information here.

3. Senior Food Distribution: Friday, Jan. 17

Independence First and the Hunger Task Force are partnering to lead a monthly senior food distribution from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at 540 S. First St. Seniors should bring a valid ID, so they can fill out an enrollment form before receiving free food. More information here.

4. YA Café: Friday, Jan. 17

Teens can pop into the Makerspace for help with homework, hang out and more from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. Snacks will be provided. More information here.

5. After Class: Friday, Jan. 17

If you are an educator, you are invited to chill at an educators after-work set from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at 2215 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. You will have the opportunity to connect with other educators, share stories and relax. There will also be food and drink specials. More information here.
