It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Child Support 101: Monday, May 12

If you are interested in receiving clarity on child support, Maximus will be leading a session from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 12 on the first floor of 4201 N. 27th St. You will learn about family court, employment, child support case management and more. In addition, attendees may receive a free laptop while supplies last. More information here.

2. Food for Thought Poetry Night: Tuesday, May 13

Poets and community members are welcome to attend a poetry night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at Freight 38, 838 S. First St. The event will feature an open mic, poets, local vendors, soul food and more. Performing artists will need to sign up upon arrival. Tickets are $5 and seating is first come, first served. 3. Brat with a Cop: Tuesday, May 13

The Milwaukee Police Department is partnering with local organizations to give community members the opportunity to engage with law enforcement through free food, music and fellowship. This gathering will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at Garden Homes Park, 2600 W. Atkinson Ave. More information here.

4. Community Resource Fair:  Wednesday, May 14 ​​​

The Salvation Army invites you to a community resource fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at its distribution center, 5880 N. 60th St. There will be job connections and information on kids summer camp and health and wellness. More information here.

5. May Neighbor Meeting: Wednesday, May 14

VIA Community Development Corp. will hold a neighborhood meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at its office, 3524 W. National Ave. The meeting will focus on teaching residents how to use the MKE Mobile Action app. Please download the app before arriving. Dinner will be provided.
