It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Basketball Open Gym: Friday, June 20

The Urban Youth Coalition will host a basketball open gym from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20 at 2906 W. Scott St. Children ages 13 and up are welcome. Registration is required. More information here.

2. Amani Day:  Friday, June 20 

Amani residents and local organizations are invited to come celebrate Amani Day from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 20 between North 22nd Street and West Hadley and Locust streets. The day will include a block cleanup with supplies provided and a block party with resources, food and activities. More information here. 

3. Movie Night at Davidson Park: Friday, June 20 

Community members are invited by Davidson Park MKE and its local partners to attend a free movie night at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20 at 3725 W. Juneau Ave. You will be watching “Encanto.” Feel free to come early to grab snacks and connect with others. More information here.  

4. Ciclovia: Saturday, June 21 

Milwaukee Police Department District Two and Safe & Sound Inc. are partnering to host the annual Ciclovia from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at 245 W. Lincoln Ave. Cyclists of all ages are welcome to participate in a bike ride, enter a bike raffle and enjoy food. More information here.  

5. Kappa Kookout: Saturday, June 21 

The Milwaukee (WI) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will host a cookout from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at McGovern Park, 5400 N. 51st Blvd. There will be free food and live entertainment for all. More information here.
