It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Alverno College Open Practice: Friday, July 11

High school girls are welcome to attend a free open soccer practice from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11 at Alverno College, 3401 S. 39th St. You should bring water, cleats, shin guards and a soccer ball. Click here to register. More information here.

2. Dashiki Ride: Saturday, July 12 

Red Bike & Green–Milwaukee will be hosting a “Dashiki Ride” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 that starts at Club Timbuktu, 520 E. Center St. The ride focuses on Black wellness, cultural pride and fashion. Cyclists are encouraged to wear African cultural attire. More information here. 

3. MOVE Every HEART MKE 2025 Tour:  Saturday, July 12 

Evolve Church is the second stop of the MOVE Every HEART MKE 2025 Tour, a free community health event that will offer screenings, resources and wellness activities. The tour will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Evolve Church, 6550 N. 76th St. More information here.

4. Boba Paint and Sip: Saturday, July 12

Teens are invited to attend a boba paint and sip from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at the Milwaukee Public Library Villard Square Branch, 5190 N. 35th St. This is a first-come, first-served event and supplies are provided. More information here. 

5. Frida Fest: Saturday, July 12 through Sunday, July 13

The sixth annual Frida Fest hosted by Farmhouse Paint Bar & Banquet Hall, 4511 S. 6th St., runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on  Sunday, July 13.The fest will honor Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and will include live music, painting workshops, food and other activities.
