It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. National Night Out: Tuesday, Aug. 12

The Milwaukee Police Department District 2 invites families to National Night Out. The event will feature a bounce house, free food, resources and other activities from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at Pulaski Park, 2701 S. 16th St. More information here.

2. State of Emergency Town Hall: Tuesday, Aug. 12

In honor of Antwan Hogans, also known as “OG Tweezy,” and other victims of gun violence, community leaders and residents will gather at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at The Infinite Church, 6750 N. 53rd St. Suite 102 to discuss solutions. Click here to register. More information here.

3. August Career Fair: Wednesday, Aug. 13

Milwaukee Public Schools is hosting a career fair from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at MPS Central Services, 5225 W. Vliet St. There will be career opportunities and onsite interviews. More information here.  

4. Washington Heights Night Market: Thursday, Aug. 14

Join Mount Olive Lutheran Church & School for its monthly night market from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14 on West Washington Boulevard between North 53rd and 54th streets. Residents can visit vendors, enjoy music, eat food and participate in children’s activities. More information here.

5. Jam House: Thursday, Aug. 14

Arts @ Large Inc. and Jeanne-Marie Farinelli and Friends are collaborating to host a jam session from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 1100 S. Fifth St. All ages are welcome to come showcase their music talents and support other artists. Music equipment will be provided and doors open at 6:30 p.m. More information here.
