It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Tech-splanation @ MPL: Tuesday, Sept. 2

If you’re an older adult who struggles with using technology, you can bring your device to the Milwaukee Public Library Zablocki Branch, 3501 W. Oklahoma Ave., from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2. A librarian will explain how to use it and answer your questions. Please note that staff is not able to set up new devices or handle repairs. 2. Crime and Safety Meeting: Wednesday, Sept. 3

Milwaukee Police Department District 5 will hold its crime and safety meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at ThriveOn King, 2153 N. Martin Luther King Drive. You can listen to crime updates for the neighborhood and ask questions. More information here.

3. Amani Housing Meeting:  Wednesday, Sept. 3

A monthly Amani housing and economics meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Dominican Center, 2470 W. Locust St. Residents will have the opportunity to receive resources and other valuable information. More information here.

4. Karaoke Wednesdays: Wednesday, Sept. 3

Every Wednesday, you can come to Pepperpot On MLK for a karaoke night and R&B and reggae after-work party. The next one is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 2215 N. Martin Luther King Drive. There will be vendors, menu specials and free entry. More information here.

5. Ceramics: Thursday, Sept. 4

Mitchell Street Arts invites you to a ceramics class from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 710 W. Historic Mitchell St. The class will be led by artists and co-teachers Shampayne Sifuentes and Betul Dogan. They will teach you how to create slabs and hand sculptures with a clay roller. This is a pay-what-you-can class with a $20 suggested donation. Click here to register. More information here.
