It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. DJ Krum at Zócalo: Friday, Sept. 5

DJ Krum will be performing on a stage at Zócalo Tavern at Zócalo Food Park, 636 S. Sixth St., from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. His music will blend different genres like hip-hop, reggaeton and more. More information here.

2. Office of African American Affairs Open House: Friday, Sept. 5

The Milwaukee Office of African American Affairs invites residents to an open house to meet its director, community partners and learn more about the resources offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 at 4830 W. Fond du Lac Ave. More information here.

3. A Walk in the Park: Friday, Sept. 5

The Milwaukee Parks Foundation and Milwaukee County Parks are leading a walk through Zablocki Park from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 at 3717 W. Howard Ave. Attendees should meet in the parking lot on West Loomis Road. See map here. More information here.

4. Fiesta Selena: Saturday, Sept. 6

In honor of Selena Quintanilla, there will be a celebration featuring food trucks, vendors, fashion show and performances from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Farmhouse Paint Bar & Banquet Hall, 4511 S. 5. Milwaukee Public Library Grand Opening: Saturday, Sept. 6

Residents are invited to the grand opening of the Milwaukee Public Library Martin Luther King Jr. Branch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2901 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The grand opening will have live music, food and tours. More information here.
