Date: Friday, September 26
Time: 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Where: Washington Park, 1859 N. 40th St.

(For adults & teens) This beginner-friendly paddling experience is on the calm waters of Washington Park Lagoon. Together, we’ll learn key safety tips, how to properly fit a life jacket, and practice foundational kayaking skills including basic strokes, steering, and stopping techniques.
We’ll help beginners feel more comfortable navigating on the water—whether you’re paddling for the first time or the first time in a long time!
Kayaks and lifejackets are provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and bring a full bottle of water.
We’ll launch from a hard surface edge at the lagoon. Participants will work together to carry boats to and from the water, so come ready for moderate physical activity including lifting, bending, reaching, and crouching.
