It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Movie in the Park: Friday, Oct. 3

Join the Milwaukee Fire Department Station 34 for a movie night from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at Enderis Park, 2956 N. 72nd St. You can watch “Moana 2” and engage in other activities like checking out the mobile Survive Alive House and rig displays. Bring a blanket or chair. Popcorn will be provided. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m. More information here.

2. Breast Health Awareness Walk: Friday, Oct. 3

Veterans and staff of the Milwaukee Veteran Affairs Medical Center can participate in a 2K breast health awareness walk from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at 5000 W. National Ave. The walk is self-paced and outdoors. You are encouraged to dress for the weather. More information here.

3. Amani United Monthly Meeting: Saturday, Oct. 4

Amani United invites residents to its monthly meeting to share updates in the neighborhood, discuss available resources and hear from community leaders at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Dominican Center, 2470 W. Locust St. There is an option to attend virtually. More information here. 

4. DIY Boutonniere or Corsage: Saturday, Oct. 4

We Got This Milwaukee welcomes teens to make their own homecoming boutonniere, corsage or bouquet for free from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at We Got This Flower Farm, 3169 N. Ninth St. Supplies will be provided. More information here.

5. Getting Started with Computers: Saturday, Oct. 4

If you’re a newcomer to technology, a cybersecurity session will teach you how to safely manage accounts and passwords, and avoid scams and fraud online. The session will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. Registration is required. More information here.
