It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Trunk N Treat: Friday, Oct. 17

Milwaukee Police Department District 2 is partnering with local organizations to host a “Trunk N Treat” for children from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at 2137 W. Greenfield Ave. Children can enjoy candy, a bounce house, prizes and other festivities. More information here.

2. Autumn Celebration: Saturday, Oct. 18

The Urban Ecology Center will host its annual Autumn Celebration for families to enjoy pumpkin carving, face paintings, pedal boating and other free activities. The celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Washington Park, 1859 N. 40th St. More information here.

3. Exotic Pet Surrender Event: Saturday, Oct. 18

If you have an exotic pet that you can no longer care for, J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue will be present from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Havenwoods State Forest, 6141 N. Hopkins St., for you to surrender it. Reptiles, fish, small mammals, plants and other animals are accepted. More information here.

4. Drop-in ESL for Adults and Teens: Saturday, Oct. 18

For teens or adults in need of improving your English skills, ESL tutors will be available from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Milwaukee Public Library Mitchell Street Branch, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. You can receive help with reading, writing, listening and speaking. More information here.

5. Sandwich Making: Saturday, Oct. 18

The Milwaukee Area Labor Council Civil Rights and Community Service Committee invites you to come help make sandwiches for those in need. This act of service will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Guest House of Milwaukee, 1216 N. 13th St. Click here to register. More information here.
