It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Real Men Real Talk: Monday, Dec. 15 

Men and boys are encouraged to come to a monthly discussion held at Gee’s Clippers Barber and Beauty Salon for a conversation on issues that men face in society. The next session will focus on grief and will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 at 2200 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. There will be food, raffles and resources. 2. Active Shooter Presentation: Monday, Dec. 15

The Milwaukee Police Department District 4 and John Busch of the Department of Homeland Security will give  a presentation about active shooting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 at the Milwaukee Police Academy Regional Training Center, 6680 N. Teutonia Ave. More information here.  

3. Pulling Together on King Drive: Tuesday, Dec. 16

Heard Space and local organizations are hosting a movie screening that celebrates the Harambee neighborhood from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 2901 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. 4. Singing Songs of the Season: Wednesday, Dec. 16

The Milwaukee Garden District will host its sixth annual “Sing-A-Long” event that will include caroling, hot chocolate, cookies and connecting with residents from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16.  It will take place at  3989 S. Sixth St. Afterward, children can pick out a toy and wrap it at the Town of Lake Water Tower at 4001 S. Sixth St. Song lyric books will be provided. More information here. 

5. South Division High School Monthly Community Meeting: Thursday, Dec. 18 

Students, family members, staff and community members are invited by South Division High School for a monthly meeting to discuss current school issues, student grades, progress to improvement and more from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 1515 W. Lapham Ave. If you arrive after 4:15 p.m., email Jessica Mendez at mendezj@milwaukee.k12.wi.us ahead of time. Dinner will be provided. More information here.
