Join the Milwaukee County Historical Society on April 15, 2026 for an evening celebrating the power of public art in Milwaukee.
Presented by Janice Marcus and Stephen Marcus, the program will start at 5:45 p.m. and include remarks from jurors Linda Marcus, John Riepenhoff, and Jeffrey Morin, followed by the announcement of the 2026 Public Art Award winner.
Finalists include works by Richard Haas (Reflection of Memories), a trompe l’oeil mural reflecting Milwaukee’s lost architectural landmarks; Amelia Bader (We Are the Power of Society), a vibrant, community-driven mural celebrating diversity and belonging; Magdalena Abakanowicz (Birds of Knowledge of Good & Evil), a contemplative sculpture creating space for reflection in the urban landscape; and Edward Cathony (People Helping People), a mid-century mosaic highlighting Milwaukee’s industrial design legacy and spirit of cooperation.
All are welcome to attend this celebration of Milwaukee’s cultural landscape.
