1. Free Family Nature Club and Free Family Portraits at Weber’s Greenhouse: Saturday, May 9

Kids and their families can learn more about gardening and the outdoors from the Riveredge Family Nature Club at Weber’s Greenhouse, 4215 N. Green Bay Ave., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. 2. Love Thy Mother appreciation program: Saturday, May 9

Join The Unity Travelers for a mother’s appreciation program with live gospel music, fellowship and celebration at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, 1874 N. 24th Place, on Saturday, May 9 at 5 p.m. More information here.

3. Agroforestry Work Day at Hawthorn Glen: Saturday, May 9

Learn about agroforestry and food forests and how to plant trees and shrubs with the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute on Saturday, May 9 at Hawthorn Glen, 1130 N. 60th St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is free but required. Register here. More information here.

4. Spring Perennial Exchange and Plant Sale: Saturday, May 9

Need to thin your perennials? Bring them to the Milwaukee Garden District spring perennial exchange and plant sale at 3989 S. 6th St. on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Outdoor, indoor and vegetable plants will also be available for sale. More information here.

5. Honoring the Heartbeat: Mental Health and Wellness Powwow: Saturday, May 9

Join the Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center for the fifth annual powwow focusing on the importance of mental health and wellness, celebrating cultural resilience and breaking stigma at the Expo Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 8200 W. Greenfield Ave.  The powwow takes place on Saturday, May 9 from noon to 8 p.m. More information here.

Looking to bike to the powwow? Join Wisconsin Bike Fed and Forest County Potawatomi Nation tribal member Nico at the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, 1721 W. Canal St., and bike the Hank Aaron State Trail to the powwow while celebrating and honoring Indigenous people. More information here.
