1. Anime Club: Friday, May 2
Children can come discuss their favorite anime series with others from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at the Milwaukee Public Library Zablocki Branch, 3501 W. Oklahoma Ave. You will have the chance to stream shows, eat Japanese snacks and create art projects. More information here.
2. Cinco de Mayo Weekend: through Sunday, May 4
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Zócalo Food Park will be hosting a series of festivities, live music, open mics, dancing and more beginning Friday, May 2 and running through Sunday, May 4. Times will vary and all events will take place at 636 S. Sixth St. Gather your family and friends to enjoy these indoor and outdoor experiences. More information here.
3. Green Tech Station Spring Volunteer Workday: Saturday, May 3
The Northwest Side Community Development Corp. invites residents to participate in volunteer activities at Green Tech Station like cleaning up, spreading wood chip paths, pruning trees and other activities. You can volunteer from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at 4101 N. 31st. Tools, supplies and lunch will be provided. Registration is required. More information here.
4. Bike the Trails: Saturday, May 3
You are welcome to participate in a guided bike ride in Havenwoods State Forest from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at 6141 N. Hopkins St. You are required to bring your own bike and a water bottle. More information here.
5. Imagining Food Systems: Saturday, May 3
The Milwaukee Food Council would like to have a conversation with residents on how to create a sustainable and equitable food system in Milwaukee. The discussion will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Kuumba Juice & Coffee, 274 E. Keefe Ave. More information here.
