1. Plazita Love Day: Friday, May 16
Muskego Way Forward is seeking volunteers to help clean the Plazita area from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at 1608 W. Forest Home Ave. You will complete tasks like plant maintenance, street sweeping and litter cleanup. Text 414-502-7199 if interested. More information here.
2. Identity Theft: Friday, May 16
The Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection welcomes you to come learn about the different types of identity theft and how to recognize it. The session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16 at the Milwaukee Public Library Zablocki Branch, 3501 W. Oklahoma Ave. More information here.
3. Move Like Malcolm: Saturday, May 17
Run Black & Green invites individuals of all ages to join it in a run or walk to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Malcolm X’s birth. There will be food, meditation and a conversation about his legacy. The celebration is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Havenwoods State Forest, 6141 N. Hopkins St. A waiver must be completed before attending. More information here.
4. Bloom and Groom: Saturday, May 17
You can support Metcalfe Park Community Bridges through a “Bloom and Groom” plant sale happening from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Metcalfe Park Rising, 3401 W. Center St. There will be discounted flowers, live music and food. Click here to order in advance. More information here.
5. May Field Days in the Children’s Garden: Saturday, May 17
Children can participate in gardening at Alice’s Garden Urban Farm from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at 2136 N. 21st St. Children will learn how to prepare soil and plant seeds in the plots. More information here.
Bonus: Milwaukee Sleep Out: Through Wednesday, May 28
Amani United wants individuals to learn about homelessness and advocate for people in need. Community members have the opportunity to tour room tents, learn survival skills, view cooking demonstrations and more. You can come every day from noon to 7 p.m. through Wednesday, May 28 at 912 W.
