The Wisconsin Muslim Civic Foundation (WMCF) is proud to spearhead Muslim Heritage Month this July, offering a series of vibrant, educational, and culturally-rich events across the state to celebrate the diverse contributions and traditions of Muslim
communities in Wisconsin.
In 2023, Governor Tony Evers proclaimed July as Muslim Heritage Month in Wisconsin—a recognition that has been renewed annually. This year marks the first time WMCF is officially leading and coordinating the month’s activities, with events spanning libraries, mosques, coffee shops, city halls, and cultural centers.
“This month is a celebration of identity, history, and community. It’s a chance to tell
our own stories and invite neighbors across Wisconsin to learn with us,” said
Fauzia Qureshi, Executive Director of WMCF.
The programming includes cultural pop-up events, proclamations, family-friendly workshops, and a Muslim World Culture Fair featuring food, vendors, and performances. Events are being hosted in Franklin, Brookfield, Madison, and Milwaukee, and reflect the vast cultural landscape of Muslim communities from Morocco to Indonesia.
Key events include:
- July 15: Muslim Heritage: Crafts, Culture and Curiosity at the Library in Franklin
- July 18: Muslim Minds: Inventions That Changed the World at ISM Brookfield
- July 22: Muslim Heritage: Creative Traditions at the Library in Madison
- July 25: Muslim World Culture Fair at ISM Milwaukee
- July 29: Many Roots, One Faith: Muslim Voices Across Cultures at NO Studios
WMCF invites all Wisconsinites to join in this month-long celebration of Muslim culture,
