1. Amani Affordable Home Tour: Monday, Oct. 27
Residents are invited to get on a bus and tour the Amani neighborhood from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27. Attendees will meet at the Dominican Center, 2470 W. Locust Ave. You will learn about affordable home options and what’s happening in the neighborhood. The first 25 people to register and complete an onsite survey will receive a $25 gift card. 2. Cutz, Cops and Conversation: Monday, Oct 27
Owen’s Place and Milwaukee Police Department District 7 are hosting a barbershop-style conversation for youths ages 16 through 24. Free haircuts and food will be available while you engage with law enforcement. The conversation is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 at 4610 W. Fond du Lac Ave. More information here.
3. Women’s Gathering: Wednesday, Oct. 29
Circles of Strength is a program that offers a space and provides services for individuals who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault and more. A women’s gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center, 930 W. Historic Mitchell St. Women 18 and up will experience a poetry writing workshop with Michaela Lacy. Food will be provided. More information here.
4. Day of the Dead Ofrendas: Wednesday, Oct. 29
Managing artistic director Jacobo Lovo of Latino Arts Inc. will guide community members on a gallery tour focusing on the Day of the Dead Ofrendas exhibit. You will learn about art, symbolism and other techniques. The English tour begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Spanish tour is at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 1028 S. Ninth St. Registration is $5. 5. October Career Fair: Wednesday, Oct. 29
Milwaukee Public Schools is hosting a career fair from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at MPS Central Services, 5225 W. Vliet St. There will be onsite interviews. More information here.
