The place to be for Thanksgiving eats was Gee’s Clippers on Saturday Nov. 22. The historic barbershop, located at 2200 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, partnered with several local nonprofits to give away 500 turkeys, hams and other side dishes.
Sponsors included Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Darvin and Deneitra Ham and the Greater Milwaukee Urban League. Residents were served on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The event was scheduled to run from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., but organizers ran out of food early. Once supplies were gone, organizers recommended other free Thanksgiving meal giveaways to residents.
