It’s Monday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know about. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news by clicking here at least two weeks in advance.

1. Holiday Grief Sacred Space: Monday, Dec. 22

As the holidays approach, Venice Williams invites individuals to a safe space to grieve from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 at The Table, 5305 W. Capitol Drive. You can stay for however long you choose to be present with yourself or others. More information here.

2. Mic Over Matter: Monday, Dec. 22

Performing artists are welcome to an open mic night from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 at Flame 13 Restaurant & Lounge, 2230 N. Martin Luther King Drive. There will also be giveaways, crowd games, awards and other activities to enjoy that night. If performing, you must sign up at the door by 8 p.m. More information here.

3. Food for Thought Poetry: Tuesday, Dec. 23

Poets and community members are welcome to attend a poetry night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Freight 38, 838 S. 1st St. Hosted by Lature and DJ Gid Money, the event will feature an open mic, poets, local vendors, soul food and more. Performing artists will need to sign up upon arrival. Tickets are $5 and seating is first come, first served. More information here. 

4. Holiday Bingo: Tuesday, Dec. 23

Elders who are 50 years young and older are welcome to spend the afternoon playing holiday bingo from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at the Sherman Phoenix Marketplace, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave., for a chance to win prizes and meet others. More information here.

5. Life on the Spectrum: Tuesday, Dec. 23

Teens and adults who are on the autism spectrum are invited to a weekly peer group to discuss topics about relationships, family, mental state and more.
