FoodRight’s Community Cooks is a welcoming, hands-on cooking experience designed to help people of all ages build confidence in the kitchen and discover the power of nutritious, delicious food.

Each session features bite-sized nutrition lessons, hands-on culinary instruction, tasty plant-based recipes, and practical tips for cooking, shopping, and stretching your grocery budget. Participants cook together, then sit down to enjoy the meal and connect with others in the community.

Community Cooks takes place every third Wednesday of the month at 4pm at FoodRight’s teaching kitchen (2323 N Commerce St.). All are welcome. Children must be age 7+ and accompanied by an adult.

Cost is $5 per person when registering in advance or a $10 suggested donation at the door. No one will be turned away; pay what you can. Space is limited.

FoodRight is a local nonprofit that empowers youth and families to choose and cook foods that sustain lifelong health through our fun, hands-on culinary nutrition education programs. Since 2015, we’ve been bringing our reimagined home ec classes to classrooms all over the city, teaching kids K5 through high school to love veggies, whole gains, and legumes, while teaching them the skills and knowledge they need to take ownership over their own health journeys.
