On Saturday, September 26, 2026 , Milwaukee will host  Together We Create 4 Kids – A Literacy & Empowerment Experience at North Division High School , bringing together approximately 500 children, youth, families, authors, educators, community organizations, and local leaders.

The event is part of the Together We Create 4 Kids national movement and is being held during National Literacy Month.

At the center of the Milwaukee experience will be our Literacy Village, where children and families can connect with books, youth and local authors, storytelling, creative writing, hands-on literacy activities, and a Mobile Book Lab.

Our theme is:

“Find Your Voice. Own Your Story. Through Literacy.”

The free event will also include educational and empowerment workshops, free books and literacy resources, school supplies, community organizations, youth and community performances, family activities, and free laptops for eligible participants.

What makes this especially meaningful for Milwaukee is the collaboration behind it. Organizations, businesses, educators, nonprofits, volunteers, and community leaders are coming together around a shared goal of investing in children and families.

We are grateful for support from organizations including the Office of Early Childhood Initiatives, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Educators Credit Union, Giving Circle MKE, Brite Star Virtual, Domnitz law, Generations of Excellence, Raising Our Village, North Division High School and additional community partners.
