1. Homebuying webinar with Acts Housing: Monday, Jan. 25

Acts Housing and BMO Harris Bank are hosting a free webinar on buying a house. The webinar will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25. To register, click here. The webinar will go over the homebuying process and offer tips on being a homeowner.  

2. “The Power of Mentoring” with Mentor Greater Milwaukee: Tuesday, Jan. 26

Mentor Greater Milwaukee is hosting an event in honor of National Mentoring Month. “The Power of Mentoring: Empowering, Uplifting & Transformation” is split into different sessions and will take place virtually from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26. 3. “Entry points into understanding racism”: Tuesday, Jan. 26

Race and Faith, a nonprofit organization, is launching its four- week seminar, “Entry points into understanding racism,” this week. The first session will take place online from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Click here to register. 

4. Fire and Police Commission community meeting: Wednesday, Jan. 27

The Fire and Police Commission is hosting a virtual community meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Acting Chief Aaron Lipski of the Milwaukee Fire Department will be in attendance to discuss the department’s goals for 2021. The public can submit questions and comments through the public comment form, which can be found here.

5. Harambee Community Association quarterly meeting: Wednesday, Jan. 27

The Harambee Community Association is hosting its quarterly meeting this week. The meeting will take place virtually from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The meeting will include an overview of the association, neighborhood news, a civics lesson and more. To register, click here. 

Bonus: Wisconsin Policy Forum’s annual meeting: Monday, Jan. 25

The Wisconsin Policy Forum, the statewide nonpartisan research organization, is hosting its annual meeting virtually from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25. 

University of Wisconsin–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chancellor Mark Mone and former governor and interim University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson will discuss the Forum’s recent report during a panel discussion titled “Falling behind? The future of higher education in Wisconsin.” Click here to register.
