School is out, and now is a great time to make some money.
Elected officials and community leaders are encouraging youth to seek summer employment opportunities. These paid positions teach young people valuable skills that will benefit them as they prepare for their future.
Milwaukee youth can explore employment opportunities at the various organizations and agencies below.

1. Earn & Learn
Earn & Learn is the City of Milwaukee’s youth employment program. Youth are connected to various organizations throughout the city. The program lasts six to eight weeks and participants work 20 hours a week. The program is still accepting applications. In-person registration will take place at Employ Milwaukee, 2342 N. 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12. Call 414-270-7550 or email earn.learn@employmilwaukee.org with any questions.
2. Neu-Life Community Development
Neu-Life Community Development, 2014 W. North Ave., offers the Youth Work Innovation Center program to students in middle and high school. The youth assist on project-based workgroups and classes for which they are paid. To apply, click here. If chosen, youth will be asked to do an in-person interview.
Milwaukee Christian Center has a YouthBuild program for young adults ages 18-25. The program provides education and hands-on construction training. Participants will help build homes for low- to moderate-income families. The program is currently accepting applicants for July and September. 4. We Got This
We Got This is ready to launch its ninth annual summer program for boys. The program is open to youth ages 12 to 16, but space is limited with only 40 spots available and pre-registration is required. This year, participants will be paid $40 for their work. The program takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon throughout the summer. To learn more about the program, read James Causey’s latest article.
5. Sam’s Place
Sam’s Place, 3338 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, is looking to hire part-time employees. The café currently has a host position and a dishwasher position For more information, call 414-837-5127. Applicants who are younger than 18 are required to have a work permit.
6. Wheel Fun Rentals
Wheel Fun Rentals, 1400 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, is hiring part-time and temporary employees for the summer season. The position offers applicants a chance to build their customer service skills and is a suitable job for high school and college students. Click here to apply . The Wisconsin State Fair is looking to people for admissions, facility, public safety and more. To apply for the jobs, interested individuals can go to the Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center, 640 S. 84th, located inside Wisconsin State Fair Park The hiring center will open on Wednesday, June 16. Its hours of operations are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Individuals must be at least 16 years old. They are required to work all 11 days of the fair.
Milwaukee County Zoo needs seasonal workers for the summer season. Applicants must be 16 or older to apply. Applications for the zoo can be found on the Milwaukee County Career website, which is available here. The county jobs are listed alphabetically by department.
