1. Sherman Park Housing Resource Fair: Saturday, June 24

Sherman Park  its annual housing resource fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 24. Thirty-one partners will be at the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club, 3000 N. Sherman Blvd., ready to give families and individuals assistance with housing. This includes tips on building credit, a panel discussion and more.  More information here.

2. Bike and Play Fest: Saturday, June 24

Have some fun with the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation at Bike and Play Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24 at 4350 N. 35th St. There will be entertainment and free bike repairs for kids and families. More information here.

3. Homer Blow birthday party: Saturday, June 24

The Homer Blow Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit charity organization that helps kids and teens in the community. Saturday, June 24 is the 29th annual “Birthday Party for the Kids” at The Oasis on 3120 W. Villard Ave. The festivities begin at 2 p.m. Youths from the ages of 2 to 13  have free admission to the party, along with free food, entertainment and chances to win raffles. More information here.

4.  “Fresh Neighborhood, Fresh Fades”: Saturday, June 24

Flip N’ Styles Barber partners with Your Move MKE to give kids a free haircut for those who serve at least two hours in Walker’s Point neighborhood’s clean-up on Saturday, June 24. The meet-up will begin at noon at the barbershop on 817 W. National Ave. and the clean-up will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Afterward, the festivities will kick off with food, free T-shirts and haircuts. Registration is required. More information here.

5. Learn about Near West Side Partners’ Rev-Up MKE competition to help launch businesses.

Rev-Up MKE is a competition like TV’s “Shark Tank” and provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to create a successful business in Milwaukee’s Near West Side neighborhood with the support of investors. Local businesses such as Pete’s Pops, Lisa Kaye Catering, Triciclo Perú, and A Goodman’s Desserts have benefitted from this opportunity in the past. By late July, panelists will be notified and a “Live Pitch Event” will be coming in September. Applications will close at 11:59 p.m. July 12 or they can be picked up at the Near West Side Partners office on 624 N. 24th St. More information here.
